Terms of Use

Last updated: 7 June 2026

These terms govern your use of Hexplore. By logging in with Strava and using Hexplore, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

What Hexplore is

Hexplore is a free game that divides the world into a grid of hexagons and lets you “unlock” them by recording running and cycling activities on Strava. It shows your personal map, a leaderboard, a territory map, and a heatmap. Hexplore is provided for personal, non-commercial enjoyment.

Connecting your Strava account

To use Hexplore you connect your Strava account using Strava’s official login. You grant us permission to read your activities and to append a short note to the description of activities you record after connecting. You can review exactly what we do with this access in our Privacy Policy, and you can revoke access at any time from your Strava apps settings or by deleting your account in Settings.

Your use of Strava remains subject to Strava’s Terms of Service. You must keep your Strava account in good standing and only connect an account you own.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Hexplore for any unlawful purpose or in breach of Strava’s terms.
  • Attempt to identify, de-anonymise, scrape, or harvest other users’ data, or to link anonymous handles to real people.
  • Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, its infrastructure, or the Strava platform.
  • Submit fake, falsified, or manipulated activity data to gain an advantage.
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit any part of the service or its data.

Your content and anonymity

We identify you to other users only by a randomly generated anonymous handle. We do not display your Strava name. Please keep in mind that anything you choose to put in a Strava activity title remains private to you within Hexplore and is not shown to other users.

Accuracy and availability

Hexagon unlocks are calculated from the summary route line Strava provides, which is simplified and may be imprecise near the edges. Hexplore is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will always be accurate. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of Hexplore at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hexplore and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Termination

You may stop using Hexplore and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the service. On termination we delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

Hexplore uses the Strava API but is not endorsed, certified, or otherwise affiliated with Strava. Strava and the Strava logo are trademarks of Strava, Inc.
